You’ll remember from last week’s post, Blue Eyes is also a writer, and also penned his own vows. Does this count as a guest post from the man behind the blog? My favorite part of the photos that follow is that there wasn’t a dry male eye in the house (or female for that point but we can always be counted on to ruin our makeup at weddings). Even the two toughest men I know, my dad and my husband, had wet lashes. Daddy cried a lot.
And since he’s at work saving the world from poorly written code and poorly executed reporting, to say nothing of faulty engineering and plain, bold faced human error, his vows will speak for him today, interwoven between ceremony photos, small windows through which we will forever revisit that luscious day under the oak trees…
Post Script: Our wedding was so resplendent, even the alligators swam up to bear reptilian witness.
I’ve seen love in movies and I’ve read about it in books, but it was always something that happened to other people or maybe it was just Hollywood make-believe. I didn’t think it was real.
Then one day you walked into my life.
There was something in your eyes, something familiar. Even with our first awkward hello, I felt as if I already knew you. And something that had been missing from my life became complete.
From that first moment, you’ve been my first thought in the morning and my last thought as I fall asleep.
Your beauty, heart, and mind continue to inspire me to be a better person.
Whether we’re walking through the sunniest day or the darkest storm, I promise I’ll be there beside you; your hand in mine, mine in yours—as we face life’s challenges together.
Before us lies an open road, filled with adventure and love and I choose to spend today, and all of my tomorrows, with you.
I’ll take you in my arms when you need to be held, and give you space when you need to be alone.
I will laugh with you in times of joy and comfort you in times of sadness.
But most of all, I will love you, unconditionally, for who you are.
Now and forever.
You are my best friend.
I didn’t know what love was, what it meant, what it felt like, until the day I met you.
I have no doubt you are my soulmate and I can’t imagine living a single moment without you.
Thank you for being you, and thank you for loving me.
